Join the SFPE Chesapeake Chapter for the a Top Golf and Lunch & Learn Event with Johnathan Carl, Victaulic Sr. Applications Engineer. Food, drinks and top golf provided courtesy of Victaulic! This session will examine the requirements for design pressure reducing devices within standpipe and sprinkler systems, per NFPA 14 and 13. We will look over design simulations and discuss multiple different design methods and approaches to PRV within these systems. We will examine inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems according to the 2020 edition of NFPA 25. The presenters will discuss key equipment installed on standpipe systems and how it should be tested. There will be a discussion on evaluating test results and how to classify conditions that could impact the performance of the standpipe system. There will also be a discussion on potential changes to NFPA 25 and NFPA 14 that could impact future standpipe testing. Two (2) PDH / 0.2 CEUs will be provided for event attendance.

Speaker Bio:
Johnathan Carl, CET, Victaulic. Johnathan Carl is a Senior Fire Protection Application Specialist at Victaulic. Johnathan holds multiple NICET certifications and multiple NFPA certifications. Johnathan 25+ years in the Fire Protection Industry as a Journeyman Sprinklerfitter, Project Manager, and lead Service/ Inspector.

Johnathan has served as a Captain for the South Whitehall Fire Department Engine 32 for 17 years and has also served as the AHJ for the Flakeboard/ Arauco plant in Moncure, North Carolina.

Johnathan currently serves on NFPA 14,24 and 420 as a principal committee member, a former NFPA 13 alternate member. Johnathan services the NFSA/ NFPA 25 task force committee. Johnathan has delivered multiple Fire Protection seminars and training throughout the United States, South America, and Canada. Johnathan is member of NFPA, NFSA, ASCET, NICET and AFSA.
